Shot taken on Saltburn beach. I liked the way the footprints lead you to the distant figure

Tow Law again, spotted these doors. Just a shame the fourth door wasn't a different colour again.

Railway museum

Prev | Home | Next

Another shot from York. This one was taken at the York Railway museum. Once again it was the contrast between the dark bodies of the trains and the light from those big airy windows that got my attention.

Two pots

Prev | Home | Next

Another shot taken in York. I'm not sure exactly where this was, we were just walking around when I looked inside an entrance (I think it was a restaurant) and this was what I saw.

It was the sunlight streaming through the window that attracted me to the shot.

Sunset

yesterday evening I looked out the window just as the sun was setting. So I rushed for my camera and stood on the drive and took this shot.

Two birds

Prev | Home | Next

Yesterday as we returned from shopping there were two birds on my drive, about three feet apart. They didn't move when the car pulled up, or when we got out and went into the house.

In fact, on the way in my wife stroked one of them. I got my camera and went back out, lay on the ground near them and took a few photos. They didn't look in any distress at all, and were watching what was going on around them.

After about 40 minutes we had to go out again and they were still there, they hadn't moved an inch. This time my son stroked one of them. According to my daughter they had gone shortly after we drove away in the car.

I thought initially they were chaffinches, however my mate Les informed me they were bullfinches.

Taking a break

While I was working in Stokesley I went out one lunchtime to take a few shots, and I spotted these two guys taking a break from their shopping or whatever they were doing.

Freemasons lodge, Tow Law

Prev | Home | Next

This is a shot of the Freemasons lodge in Tow Law. It was the bricked up windows, and the overall colours that attracted me to take the shot.

While taking some of the Atonement photographs we had to walk the other side of the Regent cinema, where I spotted this graffiti. Despite it being the same as the moniker I use on this blog, it wasn't me who did it. Honest guv!

Walking the dogs

Prev | Home | Next

We spent Saturday evening and Sunday visiting friends in Tow Law. On Sunday morning we went for a walk to get rid of the cobwebs, after a heavy drinking session on Saturday night in Crook.

It was a beautiful morning as we took the dogs for a walk.

This flower stall isn't in Holland as you may guess, but was at Glasgow central station. We were just going to board a train back home after a weekend away.

the pebble beach

Spotted this couple sat looking towards the sea. I feel the shadow from the railings adds a little something to the left hand edge.

The orange stream

Prev | Home | Next

This stream runs from the hills down to Saltburn. Whenever you see it, it always seems to be orange, but on this day it was very dramatic. I assume the orange colour is something to do with the iron stone in the hills that was mined from the mid 19th century.

We had just been for a bite to eat when I noticed this sculpture of some fish in Redcar.

By the way, this is the image I'd been having problems trying to load a few weeks ago.

I spotted this rusty tractor wheel once again in Saltburn. Its amazing to think these tractors actually still work on a regular basis.

Three baskets

Taken in Gran Canaria. We had just returned from a camel ride when I spotted these baskets of flowers, looking a bit worse for wear. I think it was the shadows cast by them on the pinkish wall that attracted me.

Clouds over the Ship

Taken from the beach, the building furthest to the right of the group of buildings is the Ship pub, seen in an earlier entry to my photoblog. The small building on it's own on the right is the old mortuary.

The Ship

The Ship pub in Saltburn has this great ships wheel on the side of the pub. I was fascinated by the shadows cast onto the wall from the wheel.
