Lift to town

Prev | Home | Next

When I took this shot, about a month ago, the lift was closed, presumably for a winter break. So everybody has to walk up the bank or steps. I assume it will be open shortly for the influx of summer visitors. Mind you, I nearly always take the steps anyway.

On the phone

I spotted this lad, totally engrossed in whatever he was doing on his phone. And then the surfer set off back out to sea, and it just felt right to me.

The pier

Prev | Home | Next

A cold, grey, windy day doesn't appear to stop people having a stroll along Saltburn pier. Well it does for some, as my wife didn't fancy it this day.

It looks to be only a matter of time before this gravestone follows the same fate as the one behind it. In fact how it is still standing in one piece is a bit of a mystery.

Have a break

Prev | Home | Next

No matter how cold the weather is, people will always find time to have a sit down and have some refreshments. Not me, I prefer to keep moving when the winds bitingly cold.

More tractors

Prev | Home | Next

Sorry if it's getting boring seeing tractors, but I like them. This is a very similar shot to one about a week ago, but I think the balance of the image is better as it shows a complete tractor on the right to balance the tractors on the left. In fact I've just noticed the tractor in the distance is the one from a couple of days ago also.

Tractor on beach

Prev | Home | Next

Another Saltburn tractor on the beach. I thought I'd add a bit of noise to this one, to alter the feel of the shot. I like it anyway, gives it a sort of desolate feeling.

Cross

Back to the church yard near Upleatham for this image. It's a lovely position for a church, overlooking rolling fields. Probably as good a place as there is to end your days.

Flaking

This is one of the doors of the old engine shed in the Valley Gardens. It's not used now, as they have a 'nice' brick building on the other side of the stream.

Church

Prev | Home | Next

On the way to Saltburn, just past Upleatham is this small church. It sits all on it's own, surrounded by grave stones and countryside, and I'm assuming it's not used these days, unless the local population of three me and a dog turn up ocassionally and prove me wrong.

This shot is a few years old now. I was at the Cleveland County Show, and this lady asked me to take her photograph as she had just won one of show jumping events and hadn't brought a camera.
